The Academy Day starts for all students at 8:30am prompt when registration takes place. Punctuality is very important and has a direct impact student progress. If your child arrives after this time you should provide them with a note to explain their lateness, otherwise they will be given a detention to make up for the time that they have lost.
Registration lasts for a 15-minute period where students will be registered in their tutorial groups. During this time each day a different whole year assembly will take place for each year group, with all tutorials in that year attending. Assemblies are themed and either led by senior members of staff or Heads of Year.
Following morning registration period one commences at 8:45am with students going to their first lesson of the day, which is one-hour in duration, followed by period two at 9:45am - again an hour in duration.
Morning break commences at the end of period two, 10:45am and lasts for 15-minutes. Here students can choose from a variety of refreshments from the Canteen catering facilities, or enjoy something that they have brought in from home. During this time students can use the toilet facilities and the outdoor areas with their friends before being expected to return to begin period three refreshed and ready to learn.
Following break period three commences at 11:00am which is one-hour in duration, followed by period four at 12:00pm. Dependant on the teaching wedge that students have their period four lesson in, will dictate at what time students go for lunch. Dependent on this students are dismissed to lunch in 5-minute intervals from 12:50pm to 1:05pm
Students have a 30-minute lunch interval which finishes at 1:35pm.
Lunch is split into 2 sitting as follows:

Period five follows straight after lunch at 1:35pm, lasting one-hour before students are dismissed.
To get to and from the Academy, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. Getting to the Academy by bus is also an option, see our School Buses page for more information. However, if you do need to travel by car, we ask that you please park wisely.
