2014 to 2015
During this Academic year so far 39 trips/ residentials have taken place. These have included the opportunity to visit the Battlefields in Belgium, Leicester Space Center, a Business Studies trip to Disneyland, a Science Residential to see Brian Cox in London and a Maths enrichment lesson at Connell 6th Form.
Subject trips so far have included the Sealife at Trafford Park, Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Museum, a HPA trip to Salford University and a year 7 trip to MMU.
Rewards trips have included a Sports Extravaganza at Event City, Spinningfields Ice Ring, Cineworld, Hollywood Bowl and an Alton Towers 100% attendance reward trip.
Trips and residential experiences are open to all students including those on the SEND register and who are in receipt of free school meals (FSM). Some funding for FSM students is made available to them via Pupil Premium and 16 – 19 Bursary funds.
2013 to 2014
In the year from September 2013 to the end of the Academic year 54 trips/ residentials took place. Over 1360 students have been on trips including a World Challenge Trip, United Nations Conference, Frankfurt Residential, CERN trip, Clothes Show Live and a Paris Trip.
To aid coursework and revision trips have been organised in Humanities to Beverley, Skipton and Chester. Art and Photography trips have included Chester Zoo, Manchester School of Art and Design whist Expressive Arts trips have included theatre trips to Wicked and Les Miserables in London. Sports and Healthy Lifestyles trips have included Taekwondo Trip, Question of Sport, Tameside Athletics at Sport City.
Academy reward trips have included Blackpool, Hollywood Bowl, Harry Potter Studios and Afternoon Tea at the Double Tree Hotel.
2012 to 2013
Since the start of this academic year (2012 to 2013) 31 trips/residentials have taken place which has included 1030 students. Students have visited the Manchester Science and Industry Museum, Etihad Stadium as part of Year 7 Project 7 work, Army careers day at Altcar, Clothes Show, Christmas Markets, Thackray Museum; residentials have taken place Year 10 Geography trip to North Yorkshire, Years 11, 12 & 13 trip to Cern Geneva and D6 London trip.
2011 to 2012
In the last academic year (2011 to 2012) students enjoyed 106 trips and residential experiences which included 2,647 students and 244 members of staff. The trips ranged from visits to art galleries such as Tate Liverpool, Whitworth Gallery, The Lowry, theatre trips, sporting activities, college visits, work with Manchester University, the Cloths Show. Catering students had the opportunity to visit the kitchens of many local hotels and restaurants including the Sweet Mandarin Restaurant in Manchester.
Students as part of their coursework have taken part in activities and trips to country parks, Manchester city centre, radio stations, Chester Zoo, Dewlay Cheesemakers and Astra Zeneca to name just a few.
Residential experiences for students have included a Year 7 stay at the youth hostel in Castleton, Gifted and Talented weekend at Hollowford, MFL Paris trip, Performing Arts London weekend, Critical Thinking weekend at the Davenport Hotel in Stockport, Geography residentials at Aldborough and Llandudno and a Sixth Form weekend in Liverpool.
At the end of each term students are reward for attainment, achievement and 100% attendance with various trips to Hollywood Bowls, Silverblades Ice Rink, Alton Towers, Camelot, Laser Quest, Frankie and Bennie’s, Pizza Hut, Nandos and Cineworld.
