Weather: School Closure Provision

PLEASE NOTE: Droylsden Academy will remain open for staff and students wherever possible so that no learning time is missed.

If closure is unavoidable we will do everything we can to inform parents as soon as possible using the following methods of communication:

• Academy website
• E-mail
• SMS text messages
• Twitter @DroyAcademy
• Local radio broadcasts –Hits Radio Manchester and Tameside Radio

Absence due to bad weather

If your child is absent from the Academy, you should phone each day before 8.30am. The number to ring is 0161 301 7600 selecting ‘Option 2 – to report your child absent’, where your call will be answered by a member of our Attendance Team. On returning to school, we will require a written note to be sent to the Academy and this should be given to Student Services.

Travelling home in bad weather

If the Academy needs to send students home before the normal Academy finishing time, parents/carers will be notified using the above methods of communication.
